Movement, Pole, Creative Expression
ABOUT
Stella Melina isn’t here to fit the mold—she’s here to break it wide open. With a deep curiosity for the body, mind, and soul, Stella challenges the old stereotypes of pole dance by blending diverse movement styles and creating a welcoming, judgment-free space where students can truly explore, express, and connect.
Teaching since 2011, she brings both heart and expertise to her classes as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and a Pole Fitness Alliance Certified Instructor and Master Trainer. Her work invites students to move beyond tricks and into transformation—using pole and expressive arts as tools for self-discovery and healing.
With over 27 years of movement and dance experience—including yoga, ballet, salsa, martial arts, Pilates, contact improv, and more—Stella’s movement background is rich and wide-ranging. A native of the American Southwest, she made her way to Los Angeles where she trained as a semi-professional salsa dancer before diving headfirst into the world of pole in 2009.
Stella has since taught and performed internationally, choreographed captivating performance pieces, and collaborated with some of the most influential names in the global pole community. She’s bilingual (Spanish/English) and offers classes and performances that are physically challenging, emotionally resonant, and creatively inspiring.
What sets her apart? A willingness to explore the full spectrum of the human experience through movement—light and shadow, joy and grief, power and vulnerability. A seasoned performer and self-proclaimed introvert, Stella transforms on stage, using pole dance as her language to communicate the beauty and complexity of being alive.
For those drawn to movement as a form of personal storytelling and inner exploration, Stella Melina offers a practice that speaks to the body, mind, and soul with intention and artistry.

- Pole Instructor TrainingPole Fitness Alliance (PFA)Master Trainer
The mission of the Pole Fitness Alliance is to empower and inspire the worldwide pole community, propelling pole fitness to take its rightful place in the mainstream fitness arena.
The PFA provides many instructional tools to make pole movement safe, accessible, and fun for everyone. These tools include teacher training courses, standardized curriculum, structured progressions, and techniques.
We are committed to promoting the many benefits of pole dancing: developing strength, power, and fluidity of the body, enhancing the mind-body connection, increasing body image and self-confidence, and becoming part of a passionate, diverse and inclusive community.
LEVEL 1 PREREQUISITES
The certification course focuses on how to teach pole as well as perfecting your technique. This course does not teach you "how" to pole. In order to succeed with certification, you should already be comfortable with basic spins (fireman variations, hook spins, chair spin), the basic climb, the side climb, and the jasmine. If you have not learned these moves yet and you are unable to work with a live instructor, we suggest enrolling in the PFA student membership and completing the Jasmine video class series prior to enrolling in the certification program.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
In this training you will learn how to teach and demonstrate proper posture and grips for spins, floorwork, transitions, basic climbs, and holds. You learn basic spotting techniques appropriate for this level, effective ways to communicate the mind-body connection, and standards for teaching safe basic pole moves. You will also learn numerous stability, strength and mobility exercises, and how to count music and cue movement. Additional topics include the science of pole movement, basic anatomy and anatomical considerations, classroom and teaching tips, how to lead effective warm-ups and cool downs, how to create basic choreography, how to handle accidents and emergencies and so much more!
